CGC Shines at the Duxford Flying Finale 2024

On Saturday, 5th October 2024, Cambridge Gliding Centre (CGC) proudly took part in the grand finale of the 2024 Duxford Air Show season. Aerotowed from Gransden Lodge behind our Robin DR400, pilot Shaun Murdoch skillfully flew our 20M Perkoz glider, which became the centerpiece of a striking static display beside the Control Tower. Across from the Perkoz, airside, stood our trusted Robin DR400, completing the perfect showcase.

The CGC stand was a hub of excitement throughout the day, with the Perkoz drawing plenty of admirers. Many enthusiastic visitors signed up to learn more about gliding and joining our vibrant community.

A true highlight of the day was the arrival of the Red Arrows, who made their grand entrance alongside a Spitfire Mk IX flown by none other than legendary pilot Paul Bonhomme. Bonhomme, renowned for his spectacular aerobatic displays and multiple Red Bull Air Race World Championships, is also a passionate glider pilot and regularly enjoys the peaceful thrill of soaring with CGC.

His presence at the show added an extra layer of excitement, and his connection to gliding offered a unique link between high-energy air displays and the serene art of unpowered flight. A huge thank you goes to the incredible Duxford team, whose support made the event a resounding success. We’re already looking forward to soaring back next season!
